Weaving "Enduring Connections"…

Janice HaywoodBetween Children and God

Children first develop a concept of God as they develop relationships with people who reflect the character of God.  Their parents are the most powerful influencers, impacting them either deliberately or unintentionally.  Faith communities or churches must recognize their ministry priority of encouraging and teaching parents to be intentional in weaving faith connections between their children and God every day as they go about their daily lives (Deuteronomy 6:6-9)

Children also need significant connections with a faith community that invests in enduring relationships while conveying an interest in their faith formation. Those relationships communicate the character of a loving, caring God and can be especially important to children whose parents are not living godly lives. In the context of those relationships, churches must make teaching meaningful biblical content a priority as well as use effective and engaging methods appropriate for each age.
