About Janice Haywood
Janice HaywoodJanice Haywood is passionate about guiding teachers, parents, and church staff ministers in providing appropriate and effective faith formation experiences for children at church and at home.
 
After receiving her master’s degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Janice served as Director of Childhood Education with the First Baptist Church of Charlotte. She became a consultant with the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina in 1976 and ministered with the state’s 4,000 Baptist churches during the next 31 years. In 1985 she received an additional master’s degree in child development and family studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. On May 8, 2009, Janice received the Doctor of Divinity degree from Campbell University.
 
Janice has served in various children’s leadership positions in seven churches from a new church plant to a mega-church. Her roles as teacher, Sunday School age-group director, ministry team chair, and Vacation Bible School director have equipped her to experience ministry as a layperson as well as a church staff minister.
 
Enduring Connections: Creating a Preschool and Children’s MinistryJanice Haywood is the author of Enduring Connections: Creating a Preschool and Children’s Ministry, as well as several booklets such as “Children and Worship: What is a Church to Do” and “Children and Conversion: How to Talk with a Child About Salvation.” She also has written articles for Baptist denominational magazines and newspapers, and she has written literature for Backyard Bible Clubs, children’s worship, and Vacation Bible School training events. 
 
Dr. Haywood is an adjunct professor and the program director for the Preschool and Children’s Ministry Certification of Campbell University Divinity School and the Baptist State Convention of NC. She also teaches the courses for the Virginia Baptist Mission Board’s certification in children’s ministry program. Janice conducts state and national leadership conferences and consults with a variety of churches in all aspects of preschool and grade-school children’s ministry.
